The Idea Behind The Studio
Those close to me know that Pilates and the reformer machine are not just an interest or hobby but that through Pilates, I found a path where none seemed to exist.
Life isn’t always rosy, and in times when the abyss felt dangerously close, when I woke not with joy but with darkness, working with my breath, connecting with my core, feeling my body fall into place—aligning as it should—showed me something powerful. Unlike my mind, my body had strength, intelligence, and the ability to respond. And in that, I found my way back to myself. I found strength within me.
Over time, my Pilates practice proved that I could do movements my mind once thought impossible. Later, I could perform them with more precision, more control, and, ultimately, with a confidence and strength I could no longer question. And my body? The transformation and toning that followed were just an extra bonus.
Why the long and revealing introduction?
Because, for me and for Hollÿ’s Pilates, Pilates is not about perfect, staged Instagram photos. It’s about showing up as we are—no matter our starting point—and through movement, feeling and seeing progress and transformation in both body and mind, ultimately reaching our goals.
That is not only the essence of Pilates for me, but it was also, in every way, the core belief of its founder, Joseph Pilates himself. He put it quite beautifully, in far fewer words:
“The Pilates Method of Body Conditioning develops the body uniformly, corrects wrong postures, restores physical vitality, invigorates the mind, and elevates the spirit. Self-confidence follows.”
